DECISION MAKING MISTAKES

There is a boy in one of my classes who does drugs. The reason I know this is because I was on the pathway and and I saw him with a different person. They were just standing there talking , and they kept holding something to their mouths. Although when I went past them they quite talking immediatly, and stood there looking as if they had something to hide. I also smelled this sickly sweet smell that I know for a fact to have been pot. I have also seen random groups of people hanging around the pathway and other places, sitting around and smoking or other things. At first I get angry at them, because they knew what it would do to them when they started, and they still know. Then I feel pity for them, because now it will be really hard for them to quit. I actually don't know what to think. And that is a huge mistake that I know that people are doing.

EFFECTIVE DECISION MAKING

1. It is important to think about the impact when identifying a decision to be made because the impact from a small or large decision could create "ripples" that would create an even bigger problem.
2. Options are the different things you can do to solve a problem.
3. Three questions to ask about any option that you are considering when making a decision are: 1) What are the options strengths and weaknesses?
2) What will the consequences be if you choose a particular option?
3)Is this a realistic course of action for your family and you at this particular time period?
4. Reasoning can help you make a decision because it makes you think logically, helps you collect evidence, and forces you to look at all the angles of the situation.
5. The purpose that evaluation serves in the decision-making process is to take a look at the results of a particular choice and decide if you want to use that particular option or a different one.
6. If a person says "But it wasn't my fault" what might be happening would be that they are denying it and would not be taking responsibility for their actions.
7. The use of the decision-making process might vary with different decisions because you don't have to make a list of your options to figure out which shoes you are going to wear with what outfit, but you may have to use every problem-solving trick if you want to figure out if you can offord to buy a house and if so what type of house.
8. A technique for handling a problem that seems overwhelming is to break the problem into smaller pieces so it is easier to help the problem and so it doesn't seem so overwhelming.

GOAL SETTING

One of my smaller goals is to be able to do a back handspring (by myself and on the floor - not a mat) and (maybe) a back tuck (flip).

I will (S) be able to do a back handspring by myself and without a mat and (possibly) a back tuck.
(M) I will no longer say that I don't want to do a back tuck and a back handspring when I am supposed to, and then I'll do it.
(A) I will practice them whenever I can.
(R) The days when I don't have gymnastics or am unable to go I will stretch (if possible) my wrists, back, and ankles. I will also do the splits every way for 1 to 2 minutes.
(T) I will try to achieve this in 6 to 12 months (it will probably take a fairly long time since I only go there 2 days a week).
(S) I will get encouragement from my Mom, Dad, brother, Tiffany (coach), and my friends (in gymnastics and out).

This is my goal.

MY VALUES

I have many different values, so these are only some of them. The first 5 of my most important values are: FAMILY, HEALTH, THE ENVIRONMENT, BEING TRUSTWORTHY, and SECURITY.The reason I chose FAMILY was because I really love my family, and would find it really hard to cope without them. I chose HEALTH because I really value (and need) a healthy body and mind. One of my values is ENVIRONMENT. I chose this because I love the Earth and the environment/ecosystem (although I am not a hippie). I also want myself, my children, and their childrens children to be able to breath clean air and to experience the world as it is now. My next value (although it is tied with ENVIRONMENT), is BEING TRUSTWORTHY. I chose this because it is really important to let people (and yourself) trust you. My last value out of my 5 most important (but not the only of them) values is SECURITY. I chose this because you really want to be safe so nothing horrible happens to you. And those are some of my values!

All About Me

Hi my name is Nicole and I am 12 years old (although I am turning 13 soon). I have lived in P.G. my entire life. In my opinion my family is the greatest ever. My mom is the most caring person you will ever meet, my dad teases everyone he meets, and my brother is actually pretty good for a younger sibling.
Some of my hobbies (and extracurricular activities) include: gymnastics(I'm in level 3 orange), I'm in Pathfinders (a branch of girlguides), and I also play piano. I'm also obsessed with reading.
I have sooooooooo many favourite books and authors that it would take too long to tell them all. Some of my favourite authors are: J.K. Rowling, Tamora Pierce and various others. Some of my favourite books are: all of the Harry Potter books (J.K. Rowling ), The Immortals Quartet, The Song of the Lioness Quartet, The Protecter of the Small, Trickster's Choice, and Trickster's Queen (all by Tamora Pierce ).
Some of my favourite movies are: the Harry Potter movies, anything with Nicolas Cage in it (Next, Gone in 60 Seconds, etc.) and many others.
I think that I will be or hope to be in university (UNBC) in 10 years or so. I would like to be a scientist or a chef or something (I'm not really sure).
And that is all about me. Or at least as much as I know. My life isn't over yet.
